TV Host Flavie Flament Files Rape Complaint Against Singer Patrick Bruel
French TV presenter Flavie Flament has publicly announced on Instagram and in an interview with Mediapart that she has filed a criminal complaint for rape against singer and actor Patrick Bruel. While Bruel is already facing dozens of sexual violence allegations—all of which he denies—this marks the first time Flament has spoken out openly under her own name.

“Ten years after La Consolation [her book revealing she was raped at age 13 by photographer David Hamilton], I am once again facing my past—and a man who robbed me of my adolescence,” Flament wrote on social media on Friday, May 15.
Flament’s lawyer, Corinne Herrmann, confirmed to franceinfo that a complaint for “rape” with a civil party representation (constitution de partie civile) has been submitted to the senior investigating judge in Paris. The Paris prosecutor’s office stated to franceinfo that it had not yet received the complaint at that time.
Alleged Events Date Back to 1991
According to Mediapart, the alleged assault took place in 1991, when Flament was 16 years old. In the complaint reviewed by the investigative outlet, her attorneys, Corinne Herrmann and Sonia Kanoun, state that she is taking legal action to “support the other women who have come forward,” “prevent further assaults,” and “seek justice for the young girl she once was.”
“I am speaking for the young girl I was, and for the other women who courageously came out of the silence despite having their words questioned. I believe them,” Flament told Mediapart.
Flament had previously provided anonymous testimony under the pseudonym “Eva” in the second part of Mediapart’s investigation published on May 7. Now speaking publicly, she recounted going to Bruel’s home in Paris and waking up in a daze after drinking tea.

“I opened my eyes, and he was buttoning my pants back up while I was on his bed. He said to me: ‘Alright, time to go, I’m taking you home!’ I didn’t understand what was happening to me and was unable to react,” she stated.
The Singer Denies All Allegations
For years, Flament was haunted by questions about what had happened that day. According to Mediapart, she received a definitive answer on September 30, 2006, backstage at a TF1 show in Bercy. Crossing paths with the singer in a hallway, Bruel reportedly hugged her and whispered in her ear, “Do you remember?”, before telling her they had slept together back then.
The alleged rape occurred 35 years ago, which normally exceeds the legal statute of limitations (set in France at 30 years after a minor reaches legal adulthood, or age 48). However, Flament’s attorneys told Mediapart they intend to argue that the alleged “serial pattern of crimes” attributed to the singer, combined with specific provisions of the Penal Code and judicial precedent, could impact the statute of limitations in this case.
When questioned by Mediapart, Patrick Bruel acknowledged meeting Flament and having an “episodic relationship,” but insisted he is “absolutely certain never to have drugged or assaulted” her.
In a statement to AFP, his lawyers, Christophe Ingrain and Céline Lasek, reiterated that their client “never drugged Flavie Flament and never imposed any sexual relation on her.” They added: “They crossed paths multiple times over the years on television sets and in private settings, including on vacation. Furthermore, Flavie Flament invited him onto several shows she hosted—a reality that directly contradicts her current narrative.”
